Meet Rita

Dr. Rita L. Goad has been an educator, speaker, entertainer and freelance writer for the past 30+ years. She is the director and alto for the Daughters of the King women’s music ministry and has taught at the university level as well as through many professional organizations. She has also taught Bible studies throughout her adult life, and has been home schooling her 4 children for the past 24 years.

As a leader in numerous organizations, Dr. Goad has spoken at national conventions, conducted seminars, presented lectures and conducted trainings on multiple topics, especially regarding health and family, and has been a freelance writer for such publications as The Christian Chronicle and Christian Family Magazine.

Dr. Goad holds the BA in Religious Education from Oklahoma Christian University, the MS in Family Science from Abilene Christian University and the PhD in Family Science from Oklahoma State University. She has a passion for strong families and for building families up in the Lord.

Growing up on a farm in West Texas, Rita began her “professional career” driving a tractor for her dad. While she still loves farm life the best, she went on to serve the Lord working as Managing Editor of the Christian Chronicle, teaching at Lubbock Christian University and Oklahoma Christian University, and working from home as the owner of several home businesses. She also developed and directed the COPE family and community life-coping ministry of her church in Oklahoma City, and worked as co-developer and teacher of Guard Your Heart, a special study series for 6th grade girls and their mothers. Rita and her husband Dr. Bill Goad have had the privilege of leading multiple groups of college students on mission campaigns and studies abroad to Germany and Austria.

After being blessed to live and serve 7 years in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Rita now resides in Edmond, Oklahoma, with her husband, Bill, and their family. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as writing, reading, singing, playing the piano, gardening, sewing and supporting her husband in his position as Vice-President of Oklahoma Christian University. Among her favorite jobs is “horse trailer hauler,” an unpaid but richly rewarded career which allows her to be with her daughter, Kelci, in her riding and barrel racing adventures. Though Rita has been blessed with many opportunities for leadership across the country, serving her family at home is her favorite and primary focus, and the titles of wife and mom are the most precious.
