Our Story
The story of how A Cup of Tea for the Heart came to be:
a note from co-creators, long-time friends and colleagues,
Rita L. Goad and Donna S. Watson
Over lunch in March of 2010, we were talking about all the people we knew who were facing challenges: financial, personal, spiritual and personal. As good friends who talk about most everything together, we remarked about how difficult it must be to face those types of situations, especially for those who may have no one to turn to for advice and encouragement.
Before the day was over, we had emailed each other saying, “We need to put together a book. We need to help those women who are facing major and every-day challenges find the support and encouragement that they need – even if it is from friends they may never know.”
As with most all of us, our schedules were already full and overflowing, but we felt so led to prepare this book that we just turned it all over to the Lord and said that if He wanted this to happen, He would have to provide the means and the way. He did.
We sent out a few emails and asked that they be shared. The stories started pouring in and within thirty days we had stories from over seventy-five different writers. That is when we knew for sure how important this work was that the Lord had asked us to do. And we knew it wasn’t all going to fit into one book!!
What started out as a thought to prepare a simple book of wisdom and advice from women of faith, quickly turned into a vision for a series of books….and more. God has provided so generously and so quickly through so many women of faith and such a great team of supporters. We’ve had to scramble to keep up! We are anxious to see where the Lord leads us on this adventure, and we are so thankful to have you as a friend on this journey!
Welcome to A Cup of Tea for the Heart!
